Lake Whitney Thousand Trails
Lake Whitney is spread out over 400 acres with lots of trails for horses and dogs. There are about 250 campsites available. The leaves were just peeking out with a few wildflowers here and there. The wind was calm, so the Eyes of Lola – our DJI Mavic Drone was in the air a lot.
Lake Whitney did not have the flood damage that happened at Lake Tawakoni, and the facilities are in better repair. The campgrounds were pretty spacious with trees scattered throughout. There is an on-site marina for those with boats, and an amazing amount of wildlife in the marshland near the lodge that we were lucky enough to catch with the drone.
We did take the dogs out to Lake Whitney and they had their first swim in months without having to worry about gators.
While at Lake Whitney, we visited Magnolia Market at the Silos in Waco Texas. I have to say that was one of the highlights in our trip through Texas. I thought it was just going to be a shopping stop for Christine. Boy, was I wrong. It was an experience! You really have to visit to appreciate all the work they have done. From the billboards on the highway showing their support of Waco to the huge (and I mean HUGE) playground in the market complex.
You have to stop and get some cupcakes at the bakery, and there are several lunch wagons around the playground area creating a very different shopping experience for anyone of any age. They also have a seed store with a beautiful garden
